Field of Heroes 2023 Demo Reel Released!
Looking back at an exciting and productive year
Field of Heroes is an online multiplayer sports brawler in development that pits two teams of five heroes against each other for goal scoring supremacy with these planned features:
- Online 5v5 PvPvE matches
- Local multiplayer
- Nine different heroes with four unique abilities each
- Eight fields of play that include engaging monsters and dangerous obstacles
- Performance stats
- Community server and LAN support
- The “Field of Heroes Editor” that lets you build your own fields through Unreal Engine
- Twitch integration enabling viewers to have a spectator presence
Gameplay
Significant progress on hero battle interactions and field traversal was made, including improvements to the behavior of AI backfills which includes prioritizing passing the ball to nearby players.
New playable heroes
Tonday
Tonday the Elementalist uses fire, earth, water and air to break through the enemy’s defenses and score goals.
Grace
Grace the Beastmaster uses their jackrabbit and corgi minions to buff their teammates and prevent the enemy from crossing into their home territory.
Ulric
Ulric the Centorc charges across the field, pummeling everything in their path and even summoning falling logs to incap the enemy and dominate the field.
Guthorn
Guthorn the Dragoon and their wyvern companion Ficos specializes in defense with abilities that include creating a wall of fire between the enemy striker and the goal.
New Fields and Metagames
Cutthroat Colosseum was constructed by orcs after the great war to engage and enjoy various sporting events. In this field, players collect coins as they play. Each time a team collects ten coins, a band of mercenaries will pour onto the field and attack the opposing team!
The Dungeon was used during the Great War to imprison enemy orcs. Now their skeletal remains rise up to avenge themselves against anyone who dares enter the field. Brave heroes who can conquer them are rewarded with a special bone gate that stops any goal from being made on their side for a limited time!
The Elder Forest is a mysterious, magical place that was conquered by orcs long ago. The forest golem tribes didn’t get the message apparently, and they continue their own wars right on the field. Seeking every advantage, the golems ally with the heroes to further their cause. Don’t let your team’s golem get incap, or else the other golem will go after your teammates!
The Slog Bog is every orc’s favorite vacation getaway place! Formerly an empty swamp, it is now one of the very few fields where the audience can engage with heroes through world-famous log rides!
Player-Created Fields
Why just play the built-in fields when you can make your own, too? The free Field of Heroes Editor DLC enables players to build your own fields using the Unreal Engine with easy-to-use templated fields and tutorials.
2024 Roadmap
More work is planned for this year which includes:
- More new fields
- Improved matchmaking which provides a better online play experience for everyone.
- Total UI makeover
- Audio content
- VFX polish
- Combat balancing
- Improved AI
- Twitch Integration
Additionally, a total Gamieon and Field of Heroes reskin and developer Twitch streams are expected to go live later in 2024.
